The past few weeks have not been going pretty positively, and my legs seem to be getting back into the swing of things!
I have been travelling a fair bit to try and get some races under my belt, after a delayed start to the season through injury. Perhaps I have been racing a little too much but performances have gone pretty well in the evening crit series at Marsh Tracks in Rhyl on Wednesdays and I also had a strong ride to 12th in the Welsh RR Champs. Although that was frustrating as I was literally a hair’s breadth away from bridging over to the race winning break, but just didn’t make it. Frustrating, but I hope in a few weeks time to have the strength back in my legs to be able to nail those moves.
The past weekend also saw me take a solid 8th place in the Elite Crit at York Sports Village on Saturday before racing the John May Memorial on Sunday. I was perhaps a little fatigued, more mentally than physically from a lot of racing of late and being honest I didn’t do myself justice, had poor bunch positioning and missed the race-winning break. More frustration, but it was still an impressive display from VCUK- Champion System with my team-mates, Dillon, Seb and Mike all in the top 10!
Coming up for me soon will be some more flat and fast racing this weekend before the Richmond RR the following- looking forward to that one- the course is pretty brutal!
So no major win or big result yet, but plenty of solid rides and a decent start to the season so far. I am certainly finding the step up to only racing E/1/2 pretty tough in comparison to 2/3/4 racing, but positive things are starting to happen!
