It’s been a while… still winning races!!

May 2, 2013
May 2, 2013

A very cold cycle race near Liverpool, England. 5th place this time from a field of 72!

Victory after 60miles near Lancaster, England

It’s been a little while since my last blog so thought I would get you all up to speed.
I have unfortunately not been able to secure a return to the racing scene since my IndyLights Long Beach debut. A lot of hard work has been put in since then and a number of near misses have been encountered and my return has almost been sealed a number of times but ultimately none of the opportunities have come.

I am certainly not giving up on this dream of mine however- anybody that knows me will know that I see everything through that I start upon and my racing career will be no exception. I have some great guys punching for me so hopefully watch this space.

In between the sponsor and deal hunting I have been keeping myself very busy with race instruction work. I have been working extensively at Oulton Park and I am also available for 1 to 1 instruction, so if you are interested, please get in touch!!

The other big thing in my life at the moment is cycling. I began to get into it as part of my training, but lately it has become a bit more serious. I started to enter a few events around the end of last year which led to me teaming up with an amateur cycling team, 4star racing, for this season. The cycle races have been keeping me going mentally, given me something to focus on and provided an outlet for the competitive chimp inside me.

I was made up to secure my first victory in a hilly 60mile race near Lancaster in early April and I have since progressed to a 2nd category ride, which I am very pleased about. This has also led to me gaining selection to the 4star team for a 2 day stage race over May 4/5th which will see me compete against some top UK cyclists amongst them some professionals! Yikes!

So thats me for now- whatever is on the horizon it looks exciting.

A Few months of ups and downs- and thats just the cycling!

September 18, 2012
September 18, 2012

Well it has bee a tough few months as I have not been able to get back out on the race track in anger and build on the massive potential we showed at the start of the year. This has been tough for me ,but this is the business that we are in and I am certainly not giving up any time soon. We are already looking ahead to securing the future for me and I am fortunate that I have time on my side- and a great team of talented individuals working hard for me.

In this time I have been keeping myself pretty busy! As ever I have been carrying on with my mental and physical training and making some  great gains in both areas. I have also made a little foray into competitive cycling and I have been loving every minute of it! Although I am fully aware that my place is with 4 wheels and an engine, the cycling has been giving me a good outlet for my competitive personality and a great way to test some mental skills.

When not exhausting myself on 2 wheels I have been working at race schools, giving race driving tuition, as well as some work at super car experience centres where I get to drive some very expensive cars very ,quickly and get paid for it!! So life isn’t too bad I guess!

Until my next blog keep tuned in and keep following!

Jet Setting and Testing

February 23, 2012
February 23, 2012

The past 2 weeks have certainly been hectic for me and my body clock is still not 100% sure what time it is! First of all I headed to Arizona for 2 days of IndyLights testing. It was great to get back into a race car and the 2 days spent at the Firebird test track near Phoenix was a great experience. John Brookes and his team did a great job for me and I learned a lot over the 2 days. The IndyLights car is a big powerful brute and takes some time to adapt to, but is very rewarding at the same time.

I then returned home for 4 days before crossing the Atlantic once more, this time heading for Indianapolis. Picking up the hire car in a snow covered car park at -7C was a shock to the system particularly after being spoilt with great sunshine and warm temperatures in Arizona! I was in Indy for the state of IndyCar address, medicals for my license and some personal meetings to try and secure my place on the IndyLights grid.
The trip was very fruitful with all my medicals passed my 2012 license is sorted! We also met with John Brookes again and we both made it very clear that we wanted to work together for the 2012 season, and I now have a very interesting and exciting opportunity to drive for him this year-all funds permitting!
I am now back in the U.K trying desperately to put together the funding needed to secure my place and make it back out to the states for more testing early in March- which would be crucial to kick off the season well.
While it is not easy to find the funding, we are working very hard and I am hopeful something exciting will happen soon.
Until then it’s head down time, training and working hard on the computer and phone trying to make it all happen!
