It’s been a little while since my last blog so thought I would get you all up to speed.
I have unfortunately not been able to secure a return to the racing scene since my IndyLights Long Beach debut. A lot of hard work has been put in since then and a number of near misses have been encountered and my return has almost been sealed a number of times but ultimately none of the opportunities have come.

I am certainly not giving up on this dream of mine however- anybody that knows me will know that I see everything through that I start upon and my racing career will be no exception. I have some great guys punching for me so hopefully watch this space.

In between the sponsor and deal hunting I have been keeping myself very busy with race instruction work. I have been working extensively at Oulton Park and I am also available for 1 to 1 instruction, so if you are interested, please get in touch!!

The other big thing in my life at the moment is cycling. I began to get into it as part of my training, but lately it has become a bit more serious. I started to enter a few events around the end of last year which led to me teaming up with an amateur cycling team, 4star racing, for this season. The cycle races have been keeping me going mentally, given me something to focus on and provided an outlet for the competitive chimp inside me.

I was made up to secure my first victory in a hilly 60mile race near Lancaster in early April and I have since progressed to a 2nd category ride, which I am very pleased about. This has also led to me gaining selection to the 4star team for a 2 day stage race over May 4/5th which will see me compete against some top UK cyclists amongst them some professionals! Yikes!

So thats me for now- whatever is on the horizon it looks exciting.

Well it has bee a tough few months as I have not been able to get back out on the race track in anger and build on the massive potential we showed at the start of the year. This has been tough for me ,but this is the business that we are in and I am certainly not giving up any time soon. We are already looking ahead to securing the future for me and I am fortunate that I have time on my side- and a great team of talented individuals working hard for me.

In this time I have been keeping myself pretty busy! As ever I have been carrying on with my mental and physical training and making some great gains in both areas. I have also made a little foray into competitive cycling and I have been loving every minute of it! Although I am fully aware that my place is with 4 wheels and an engine, the cycling has been giving me a good outlet for my competitive personality and a great way to test some mental skills.

When not exhausting myself on 2 wheels I have been working at race schools, giving race driving tuition, as well as some work at super car experience centres where I get to drive some very expensive cars very ,quickly and get paid for it!! So life isn’t too bad I guess!

Until my next blog keep tuned in and keep following!

Alex is delighted to announce a new partnership with Noonetime Charities, an organisation founded to help empower women and children in Africa struggling with HIV/AIDS and Malaria.

Noonetime Charities inspires, motivates and supports the youth of Kenya to become involved in various sports, specifically soccer, helping them set personal goals and assisting them in visualizing their dreams.
The Charity’s immediate goal is to raise $50,000 for The Kunya Water and Sanitation Project at Mama Na Dada, giving the gift of clean water to over 5,000 people in Kunya Village and surrounding villages.
“I am delighted to be linked with this extremely worthwhile cause and will be working through my motor racing and athletic activities to do all I personally can to raise awareness and money for Noonetime Charities” Alex announced.
Meghan Noone established the Charity in 2011 following a life altering trip to Kenya in 2008, when Meghan realized that the journey for women and children in Africa was much more challenging than the one she experienced growing up in America. For more information and to make a tax-deductible donation please visitwww.noonetimecharities.org.

Cheques are payable to Noonetime Charities and can be mailed to:

133 S 11th Street, Suite 220, St Louis MO 63102.

Every dollar counts!!!! Everyone who donates, no matter what amount, will have a brick, with their name and hometown inscribed on it, added to the Maji Walk at Mama Na Dada.

Alex returns to action with a deal to race in the Indy Lights Championship at the highly prestigious Long Beach street race in California on the 15th of April. He returns to action with Brooks Associates Racing – the team he tested with at the official training days at Barber, Alabama with great success.
”I am really looking forward to the opportunity I have got with John and his team. We have gelled really well in testing and I feel we can put on a good show at Long Beach. For me it will be my Indy Lights debut. With the minimal testing we have had I am just going to focus on keeping my head down and working hard with the team to improve each time out on track and build for the future.” said Alex.

Alex’s deal results from a lot of hard work by his family and management team after testing at Barber showed how much potential he has, despite having far less track time compared to his rivals. Alex’s management team will continue working hard to secure his full time return to the cockpit and are seeking partners to ensure this becomes a reality. “We are looking for new business partners to safeguard the drive and provide continuity of support for the remainder of 2012 and beyond to ensure Alex can go on and develop the talent he has clearly demonstrated” said his manager.

But for now the only thing on Alex’s mind is the joy of being able to race at Long Beach.

After much hard work Alex has secured a return to the U.S racing scene in a deal with Brookes Associates Racing to participate in the upcoming IndyLights official pre-season test in Barber Motorsports Park, Alabama.

After a very successful test with John and his team at the end of February, Alex heads out hoping his future is secured to compete in the first rounds of the championship.

“I am really looking forward to getting back out there” said Alex. “We don’t as yet have all the necessary funding in place to be confirmed for the first races but I am hopeful that can be secured in time” he said.

Alex is looking to once more demonstrate his ability despite having far less testing time over the winter compared to his rivals.

“It is going to be tough but I just need to be realistic about what is achievable. I know if I keep my head down and work hard with John and his team we can have a good test and progress to gather some impressive results come the first race weekend at St.Pete.” he reflected

Alex will travel out next week for the series test at Barber on the 19th and 20th of March which is the last chance the teams and drivers have to prepare for the Grand Prix of St. Petersburg on the 25th of March.

“We are still not guaranteed to be on the start-line come the 25th but I am going to focus on what I can control and put in a good performance at Barber…. I hope we can make it however as racing around the streets of St.Pete would be an amazing experience – and it has kept me motivated and down the gym for a while!”

The past 2 weeks have certainly been hectic for me and my body clock is still not 100% sure what time it is! First of all I headed to Arizona for 2 days of IndyLights testing. It was great to get back into a race car and the 2 days spent at the Firebird test track near Phoenix was a great experience. John Brookes and his team did a great job for me and I learned a lot over the 2 days. The IndyLights car is a big powerful brute and takes some time to adapt to, but is very rewarding at the same time.

I then returned home for 4 days before crossing the Atlantic once more, this time heading for Indianapolis. Picking up the hire car in a snow covered car park at -7C was a shock to the system particularly after being spoilt with great sunshine and warm temperatures in Arizona! I was in Indy for the state of IndyCar address, medicals for my license and some personal meetings to try and secure my place on the IndyLights grid.

The trip was very fruitful with all my medicals passed my 2012 license is sorted! We also met with John Brookes again and we both made it very clear that we wanted to work together for the 2012 season, and I now have a very interesting and exciting opportunity to drive for him this year-all funds permitting!

I am now back in the U.K trying desperately to put together the funding needed to secure my place and make it back out to the states for more testing early in March- which would be crucial to kick off the season well.

While it is not easy to find the funding, we are working very hard and I am hopeful something exciting will happen soon.

Until then it’s head down time, training and working hard on the computer and phone trying to make it all happen!
