Its been a pretty quiet month road race wise…. The calendar seems pretty poor this season for E/1/2 racing with April being particularly bad, fortunately next month look a bit better.
Thankfully the mid-week crits have kicked off and I have also been keeping myself busy with the odd TT and getting some solid training in. The first couple of crits have gone well, with a 3rd and a 5th place. I really enjoy these races, although I am not built to do well in them, I find them great training for attacking road races and down at marsh tracks there is always good banter between the riders. Getting to put the Shark Aero Pro through its paces in a crit is great too, it seems to really excel!
Last Sunday I had a bash at the Horseshoe Pass TT, I have only done a handful of serious time trials before but I am seriously getting the testing bug! I certainly need to stick in some more training time in the aero position however as I am giving a lot of watts away, and pretty far off where should be. Still, I managed a 7th place in a high quality field that included 2 national champions and a world tour pro (he beat me!!)
Looking forward to May however and getting stuck into some ‘proper’ racing again 🙂
